Grantham University Opens Blacks in Government Annual Scholarship
By Grantham University
LENEXA, Kan., July 10, 2018 — For the sixth year, Grantham University has opened the application period for the National Organization of Blacks in Government (BIG) Scholarship.
Grantham is again offering a full scholarship for a BIG member to pursue a graduate or undergraduate degree. The scholarship covers tuition, textbooks, software and fees.
Among the eligibility criteria, applicants must be BIG members, meet Grantham’s minimum requirements, and submit a 1,000 word essay explaining what the BIG 2018 National Training Institute Theme – “Leveraging Your Professional Attributes for Sustained Growth and Development” – means to them.
“We are pleased to offer this scholarship opportunity to BIG members,” said Scott Andrews, Grantham University president and CEO. “Grantham is proud to serve a very diverse student population, and our partnership with BIG underscores our long-held belief in the importance of providing equal educational and professional development opportunities for black government employees.”
Grantham’s most recent BIG Scholarship recipient Gerald Avery Wilson, a gold plus BIG member and president of BIG’s Parklawn chapter in Region XI, went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
In addition to scholarship opportunities, Grantham’s partnership with BIG allows the organization’s members to attend the university at a reduced (per credit hour) tuition rate. The agreement is one among many similar association, community and corporate partnerships Grantham has signed in recent years.
BIG members can view complete eligibility requirements and apply for the full scholarship now through November 6, 2018 on Grantham’s official BIG Scholarship page.
